Books for Middle Schoolers

Hey guys! Today I'm going to be talking about some of my favorite things... books! Books for middle schoolers in particular.  Now, I think that even if you aren't in middle school anymore you can still read these books and enjoy them. Some of these books I've read so many times and are some of my favorite books to read.  I hope you guys enjoy reading them. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

1. The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt

Holling Hoodhood is stuck in class with a teacher who he thinks doesn't like him. This book is funny and entertaining and I recommend reading some Shakespeare plays before you read this book as it talks about some of them.

2. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone

Harry Potter is shocked to discover he is a wizard. He goes to a school for wizards and witches and makes friends and discovers who he is. One of my favorite books ever. For those of you who are worried about there being witchcraft I assure you it isn't at all demonic and I would think of it as fantasy. If you aren't sure if you should give it to your kid, read it first! You'll see.

3. Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (7th and 8th)

It's Harry's second year at Hogwarts and weird things are happening. Students are being attacked and he's being accused of attacking them!

4. Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (8th)

Sirius Black a man thrown into Azkaban ( a prison for evil wizards and witches) for the murder of 12 people with a single curse, has escaped from prison and Harry is warned that Sirius is after him!

5. The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall

A summer story about a family that travels to a cottage and makes friends and has adventures there.

6. The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser

A nice family living in a brownstone are forced to move after their landlord refuses to renew their lease. The 5 kids of the family are determind to convince the landlord to let them stay.

7. The Year of Miss Agnes by KirkPatrick Hill

A girl named Frederika lives in Alaska and is used to teachers leaving. One day Miss Agnes comes and she isn't like every other teacher.

8. The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place by Julie Berry (8th grade)

A murder mystery that is interesting and entertaining. When their headmistress and her brother die after eating dinner the girls at the boarding school decide to run the school themselves!

9. Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Auggie Pullman is a different kid. Born with facial differences, he's used to kids running away from him or staring at him. When his parents decide to send him to public school (he's been homeschooled up to this point) he is scared. He navigates middle school life, and through him being there people learn to see and treat others in a different way. We also get to see others perspectives as we read the book.

10. Sweep by Jonathan Auxier

Nan is a chimney sweep, and is good at it too. One day she is caught in a fire and her life changes.

Have fun reading!

Look out for another post coming out this Monday called Book Would You Rather. Another post is coming out next Friday! It's called Cozy Reads for Autumn.
